Superior Resistance
The stainless steel used to mill our Type 436 Stainless Steel Tube receives an added ingredient, molybdenum. Molybdenum gives type 436 tubing its superior pitting resistance, even over type 439 stainless steel tubing.
A ferritic stainless steel tube, type 436 outperforms type 409 in oxidation resistance and corrosion testing, especially in high temperatures exceeding 1500˚F (816˚C).
Its chemical composition gives type 436 ideal formability for difficult-to-form systems and components.
Type 436 stainless steel tube provides the highest grade of protection against high temperature corrosion and oxidation even in wet, chloride environments. Type 436 is specifically designed for numerous automotive exhaust applications where punishing atmospheres exist.
